Top 5 Wedding Dress Trends for 2024

In October, we showcased our 2024 bridal collection at New York Bridal Week. This is one of the biggest weeks for bridal fashion with labels from all over the world coming together to showcase their newest collections. It's a bustling hub where buyers representing boutiques from America and worldwide converge, seeking to curate a new collection of gowns for their brides.

Whilst we were there, we explored what trends were being presented and have put together our 5 biggest wedding dress trends for 2024.

  1. Floral Appliques Blooming in 3D

Flowers, floral lace and embroidery are a long standing staple in bridal. For the romantic bride, florals are a must. The timeless elegance of florals takes on a new dimension, adorning gowns with intricate 3D designs, be it cascading across the entirety of the dress or delicately gracing the neckline. At New York's bridal week, the flowers were blooming!

2. Return of the Timeless Classics

Contrary to changing trends, there's a noticeable resurgence of classic wedding gown styles making a comeback. This revival isn't confined to runways and trade shows but echoes in the preferences voiced by brides visiting our Noosa showroom. The allure lies in the simplicity and timelessness of gowns fashioned from minimalist fabrics like crepe and satin. Brides yearn for designs that transcend time and that can be styled their own way.

3. Artistic Structural Shapes

Designers are showcasing their creativity by using voluminous fabrics such as Gazar, Organza, Dupion, or Mikado to fashion elaborate ballgown skirts and captivating silhouettes. Techniques like pleating, ruching, and gathering are masterfully employed to create breathtaking silhouettes, elevating the gown into a wearable masterpiece.

4. Splashes of Colour

Colored gowns have been gaining momentum over the last couple of years. Vibrant hues of pink and blue emerged as dominant color palettes at New York's bridal week. From striking, solid-coloured gowns to subtler hints of colour, this trend is a playground for non-traditional brides seeking feminine and playful expressions.

5. The Rise of Custom Gowns

Empowered by social media and an array of online resources, modern brides are now well-versed in their preferences for wedding gowns. A noticeable trend has been the increasing desire among brides to collaborate on creating custom wedding gowns. Whether this involves adapting existing styles or embarking on the creation of entirely new design, brides relish the personalized journey towards their dream gown.

As we bid adieu to 2023, we are excited by what 2024 will bring. We are thrilled to share these top trends that are set to redefine bridal fashion in the coming year. Whether you're a bride envisioning a romantic floral gown, a devotee of timeless elegance seeking classic silhouettes, or an avant-garde soul drawn to structural innovation or pops of color, these trends cater to diverse tastes and aspirations.
